Dil Foods is a Bengaluru-based start-up started in March 2022 by Arpita Aditi that allows existing restaurants to generate additional revenue without investing. It has developed an operating system that is linked to communities of local food business enterprises serving a variety of cuisines. This technology is intended to enable small eateries to fill Dil Brands’ requests while standardizing their supply chain to deliver an enhanced experience to a diverse group of Indian audiences. The business manages delivery orders via an online network of restaurants, enabling them to develop new revenue streams. Some of the main rivals of Dil Foods are EatClub, Bigspoon, Ghost Kitchens, Hygiene Big Bite, and Voosh.
Partnering Restautants
Dil Foods helps restaurants to develop food brands, menus, common recipes, and ingredient packaging. It claims to operate on a month-to-month basis and currently has partnerships with more than 50 establishments. The start-up works with partners in restaurants under a fixed pay-per-SKU agreement, with partners garnering a 40% revenue share on each item sold through platforms like Swiggy and Zomato. Dil Foods in addition monitors the supply chain to make sure excellence and consistency across all of its shops. After achieving success in Bangalore and Hyderabad, it plans to increase its footprint in the Chennai, Pune, Delhi, and NCR regions shortly.
Funding & Acquisitions
To date, Dil Foods has raised funding in pre-seed and seed rounds and have raised $2.2M from investors Mount Judi Ventures and V3 ventures. It has not made any acquisitions yet. The latest tranche of funding came on July 25, 2023, in a seed funding round.
Marketing USP & Key Competitors
Unique Business Model-The platform operates on an asset-light strategy, leveraging existing but underutilized infrastructure currently used by eateries to supervise the last mile of preparation and distribution while they handle business operations, supply chains, marketing, and promotion.
Brand compartmentalization and recall- Intending to offer authentic food and a rich eating experience, Dil Foods have undertaken brand compartmentalization which allows them to comprehend the distinct needs and reactions for and to a single brand or cuisine and add recall value.
Focus on offering varied Indian Cuisines-Rather than striving to serve all types of Western cuisine, Dil Foods intends to address the supply void in the authentic regional Indian cuisine. There are chains and independent eateries in major cities that serve a variety of international cuisines, but no one has yet addressed the need for working professionals to have affordable daily meals.
Future Plans
It currently has eight brands and has partnered with 54 neighborhood eateries in Bangalore and Hyderabad. It intends to launch six new brands, as well as new cities including Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai, before moving up north towards Delhi NCR, to accelerate its growth this fiscal year. Additionally, it plans to standardize its supply network. Further, to improve the shared life of the brand’s products, the restaurant operator also aims to invest money in upgrading its supply chain, data analytics, and R&D.
